September 22, 2026 – Like yesterday, but a little different

It was another refreshing sixty degree cloudy morning … perrrrfect weather for working (shout out to Bob the Builder for coining the perrrfect saying ♥)

It is such a wonderful blessing to have a local pastor come to the job site every morning to share an inspirational message and to pray over us.  This morning, the pastor shared a builders blessing.  He graciously offered to share it.  

God, bless these hands today.
Bless the hands that measure and cut,
the hands that carry and lift,
the hands that drive nails and turn screws,
the hands that paint, sweep, clean, and repair.
Give us patience when something does not fit,
wisdom when we are not quite sure what comes next,
and enough humility to ask someone who does.
Keep us safe in our work,
and keep us mindful of one another.
But most of all, remind us what we are building.
We are not simply putting together lumber, drywall, shingles, and paint.
We are helping make a place where someone will eat dinner, do homework, celebrate birthdays, rest after a long day, and call home.
Long after we have forgotten which board we cut or which nail we drove, someone will live within what these hands helped build.
So bless the work of our hands, God, and use it to bless the lives of others.
Amen.

Then it was time to get back to work.  It was great to see a whole team of electricians already working on the rough-in.  The house was ‘banging and buzzing’ with activity this morning.  We went back to doing more truss blocking.  It’s a time consuming process, since it involves alot of climbing over trusses and wires.  We were becoming experts – Joe was better at measuring and installing and I was more accurate at cutting.  I always say that we’re experts by the time we finish the task, and then have to start all over again next year … lol.

  

By the time we were done with the center truss blocking, other team members had finished up the blocking on the gable end as well as all the blocking on the lower section of the trusses.  All the blocking is done.  Great teamwork!

While we were working on that project, there was amazing progress with:

… the electricians busy running wires and setting electrical boxes and lights.  There was a whole team there today, and they made great progress.  We’re hoping that they can finish up tomorrow.

… the plumber running pipes through the ceiling and the crawl space where needed

…some team members starting to work on the soffit, which is underside of the roof overhang which is vented to let air flow into the attic.  Bill made a custom jig to make it easier for his wife Jo to accurately cut the metal pieces.  

… others were working on ‘setting’ the bathtubs, which means assuring they are level and securing them to the wall.

… others were working on the front porch to add stringers to provide support for the soffit installation

…others installed the crawl space vents

and by the end of the day, Richard was installing the first starter strip for the siding.  It’s critical that the starter strip is level to assure that all the siding on the house is level.

Wow, what a productive day!   Since it is Tuesday, the team is going out to a local restaurant for “Taco Tuesday”.  Then … finals of America’s Got Talent :-).
