September 29, 2022 – Flooring begins

It was another morning in the mid-30’s …. way too cold for this Floridian.   I wore three sweatshirts all day!   When we arrived at the site around 7:45am, the driveway gravel was installed, the attic insulation truck was parked in the driveway, and Gary was spreading seed from his tractor.  Yeah, there are some early risers on this team.

After another wonderful devotional and morning prayer, Bob handed out our task list for today, even though we all knew that today would be flooring day :-).

The bedroom we were flooring had the attic insulation tube through the window, which made it a bit challenging to get started.   It was very interesting to see how the insulation was loaded from a trailer, pushed through a big tube and blown into the attic.

Our first task was to scrape and clean the floor.

After reading the instructions, we started on our first row.   It didn’t take long to get to our first challenge – cutting out the heater duct.   It turned out great!

We definitely got into the swing of things as we installed more rows.

By our 3:00 quitting time, we were about 75% done with the bedroom.   Tomorrow we get to tackle the closet :-).

After a shower, we headed out to happy hour on the pavilion.   It was in the 60’s, so it was still a bit chilly.   A warm fire helped with that!

A few of us decided to go out to dinner together.   Yum!  Mexican :-).

What another wonderful day!  God is good.

  1. Every day is more amazing. This new home is impressive in every sense of he word. While Debbie’s blog makes it sound like a walk in the park, it is anything but. As stated before, this is excellence on display. Anyone would be proud to live in this wonderful home. The first occupant, God, is already here.
