September 28, 2022 – painting done!

We woke to a frigid 36 degrees this morning…brrrrr!   We are very thankful that our heat works well in Roadie :-).  It seemed to take a while to warm up today, even inside the house.  We were impressed with how much had been accomplished yesterday.   The concrete vendor completed the sidewalk and the patio.

Gene, Richard and Bob sprayed on 2 coats of primer, and 2 coats of white ceiling paint.   The house looked great!

Everyone knew that today was painting day, so we came dressed ready to wear some paint.   After our wonderful devotion and prayer, Bob broke us up into 4 person painting teams to focus on different parts of the house.   Joe and I were on the Master Bedroom, closet and bathrooms team.

My task was to cut in the ceiling … going freehand!   Joe used a roller for the walls.   The paint color was a light beige color, which made it a challenge to see where we missed some paint.   With the texturing, we applied two coats to make sure it was fully covered.

And, of course, I did wear some paint…lol.

Amazingly, we were done painting the entire house and completely cleaned up before lunch!   After our delicious pulled pork lunch at a local church, we all traveled to the storage garage where the flooring was being stored.  We were able to load all of the boxes on the trailer very quickly.  It was definitely a perfect example of ‘many hands make light work’.  When we got back to the house, we loaded the predetermined number of boxes in each room.

Since we were done a bit early, we rolled out and secured the heavy plastic base for the driveway gravel.

Gary is doing a great job grading the site.  He was able to get six truckloads of topsoil for free.  The goal is to get some seed on it shortly so it can get established before the winter.

The house looks great!   God is good!

  2. Organization was not invented by Americans. Still nobody does it better. Organization is what allowed us to cure disease, perfect flight, build industry and win wars. This wonderful home is the result of real organization executed by a talented committed team. It’s American excellence on display.
